Didn't really do much. At all. Play doh. Read whale books. Watched St. Dave on DVD (again). Read CCF. That's it.

OOh but guess what - four men tried to break into our house last night at 3am in the morning - that's exciting, eh? Ane given that we live on a well-lit major A-road with regular police cars driving past one can only assume they have nerves of steel to try it on. Alhamdulillah DH heard them and turned the light on and they scarpered - he said they looked like four fully grown men - not kids - so naturally I'm now a bit anxious - especially as a friend on the end of our street *was* broken into a few days ago. What to do. Life in "civilisation".

I know you don't like swearings so I won'r do it in your comments but you can imagine what I want to say. Not nice news. What were they thinking of..and why 4? And if they were that determined to get in why did they scarper?? Me no like. I've been sat in the livng room of my old lounge one summer night with the window open when a robber was climbing half way through. "What the #ยค!! d'ye think yous doing??" I hollered. He actually whined that he was sorry and he didn't know I was in cos the car wasn't in the drive. Gee thanks...so wierd having a conversation through my open window with a guy who really wanted my video tucked under his arm. Get yourself a security system D. One that covers the windows and downstairs while you sleep. It's the only thing to do and they are effective. Neighbourhood watch is old ladyish..but also works. Checking you have boundries (fences, gates etc) also helps. Am rreally ticked off this could happen to you. Grr....Grr....shall have to calm down now. You'll be alright..it was just a one off I reckon..x

It might be worth wasting the time with the Police. At least get them around to advise you on basic security and see if your landlord will consider shouldering the cost of securing his property (and hence yourselves).

I've been done over twice in my life so far; can't describe the feeling, the fear, the vulnerability - took a while to get over, but time healed and I was the wiser for it.

My thoughts are with you.

I keep a bayonet in my bedside cabinet. Just in case.

Main thing is they didn't get in. Glad you're ok.
